So DC and current Green Lantern scribe (and Silver Age fanboy) have been adding other color Lanterns. First expanding on the yellow power ring used by ex-GL turned villain Sinestro and creating the Sinestro Corps. Who are basically powered by the fear they tend to cause. And now they've added Red Lanterns. Reds seem to be empowered by their own bottomless pits of rage. Also they spit blood that explodes stuff or melts them or something. Not sure. Anyway, here is when two of those guys meet...

My store didn't have volume 4 of Empowered. They say its because Diamond hates me and doesn't want me to be happy. This is possible. But I did have that bonus "You're in a job rut" money so I kind of spent a lot. And by a lot I mean I got The Bomb by Steve Mannion, which I saw reviewed elsewhere and looked fun. Also I finally got Brian Wood's giant hard-cover Local collection...

But it was a really heavy week with pull-list comics. Starting with a new Savage Dragon. Which has Dragon and Invincible teaming up to fight lava guys. And Crazy NotSuperman killing dudes. Lots and lots of dudes. Also checking in with Malcom in Dimension X, She-Dragon in her cell and Star & Red Star fighting home invaders...

Then its more Dragon! Cause he's in the new Proof where he gets mauled by Thunderbirds. Also Ginger and her allies continue to search the New York sewers for a missing golem. And then some back-up stuff for Halloween, including a mutli-page look at the new Screamland comic...

Next up is the one-shot Hellboy: In the Chapel of Moloch drawn and written by Mignola. In it HB looks into a neoGothic artist who seems to be getting the wrong kind of inspiration...

The Spike: After the Fall mini-series finishes up. Spike goes all bad-ass, Illyria solves a problem and the alliance between Connor and Spike's crew is explained...

Over to Marvel, starting with Wolverine: First Class where Logan totally beats up on a Russian were-bear. Plus a wonderful Colleen Coover back-up where Kitty may or may not have befriended the Mole People. Coover's Mole People are so adorable...

And theres a Giant-Size X-Men First Class special. With Hank going all X-files on behalf of FBI Agent Baker. Plus a reprint of a classic story where the X-Men fight what seems to be Frankenstein's Monster. Which means the Marvel universe actually has TWO of them...

After that its more Secret Invasion tie-ins.

*sigh*

At least its almost over. First is Avengers: The Initiative where the new Skrull Kill Krew goes up helps clear out and recruit from the Montana (Freedom Force), Pennsylvania (Liberteens) and Georgia (The Cavalry) teams. And Skrull!Duggan tells all the Super-Skrull sleeper agents to activate and attack. ANd though he wasn't long for this world, Amazing Friends Super-Skrull? Brilliant! Sadly while the writing from Gage and Slott makes this one of the few SI books I think is any good, the art in this issue penciler Steve Kurth, inker Drew Hennessy and colorist Matt Milla is sadly lacking...

The second SI book for the week is Nova. Which has Rich. And Darkhawk. And Quasar. And the return of the Worldmind. Plus a surprise final page arrival. So you know, awesome like always...

Leaving Marvel for DC we've got the new Jack of Fables, with more narration from the Literal "Fable" Fourth Wall and a story mostly focusing on the third Page sister Hillary. And a gathering of forces under both Revise and Bookburner...

I also grabbed the reprint of the Morrison and Philip Bond 90's story Kill Your Boyfriend. Which is nice and all, but as Morrison himself admits in the after-word seems very dated over a decade later...

And lastly we've got Knights of the Dinner Table #144. What looks to be a wrap-up for a bit on the JoJo Hard8 story. Which ties in a bit with both the regulars playing the Hackmaster MMORPG. And then the Knights continue on further into Bagworld. Oh and the new movie reviewer is still really, really dull. This issue he explains how adapt the movie Mystery Men for a supers rpg. In the blandest and most generic way possible...
