New Comics Day 10/22
Oct. 22nd, 2008 08:20 pmHey, a week where I had money to buy MORE than was on my pull list. How odd. So I finally grabbed that Mike Wieringo tribute What if...? issue written by Jeff Parker. The one with the Spider-Man, Gray Hulk, Wolverine, Ghost Rider FF team. It was an book Wieringo hadn't finished before his death and the number of artists who stepped up to finish it as a tribute is impressive. Also got the first Northlanders trade, since I like Wood's work and the thing was a freaking steal at only ten bucks...
And speaking of Brian Wood, we'll start the pulls with a new DMZ. Which steps back from New York and the post-election period and Matty goes to visit the unofficial R&R spot of Staten Island...
Then its Invincible where Mark and Eve try for an uninterrupted date. Ha! time travelers need Invincible's help dealing with their future despot and..oh look there's the gore that was missing from last issue...
On FEAR Agent Heath makes a decision to go on the wagon and reconcile with his wife. Of course while the two are off on some odd pseudo-Old West world their kid has been taken by the Dressite's who want revenge for Heath's attempted revenge genocide...
Angel: After the Fall continues the fight between Angel and his allies and vamp!Gunn. With Wolfram & Hart getting annoyed and sending in an army of dragon/jet fighter/demon things. All of which leads to several deaths...
Next we've got Blue Beetle with Jaime taking a road trip with his dad across the border. Oh and a bunch of exposition from the new Dr. Polaris. Not that he's a doctor. He's basically an evil corporate shark. Who got his magnetism powers by attending a seminar put on by the original Dr. Polaris. Um. Ok. Sure. Anyway the issue also has Traci13 again and Mr. Reyes beating a dude with his cane, so its all good...
And we finish up with a new Criminal. Jacob and Iris work on covering up Danny's death and then split up for awhile. Which is when an old "friend" of Jacob's comes knocking, Detective Starr who had gotten Jacob falsely convicted for his wife's death...
