Super-heroes of Color
May. 25th, 2008 04:13 amQuick question. Other than Steel and Blade (which is more vampire/action than super-hero/action) can anyone think of any super-hero movies featuring black or other PoC leads that AREN'T billed as comedies?
Also not counting movies from Bollywood or Turkey or Japan or the like...
ETA: Ok so we've got Spawn and Bulletproof Monk. So thats TWO straight supers movies and two that are more other genres but at least START as vaguely supers comics...

Snarfquest: The Book by Larry Elmore
A collection of comic strips from Dragon magazine. Snarf is a young Zeetvah looking to prove himself the worthiest to be his people's new leader. And to do that he needs to have some heroic deeds and adventures and most importantly a big pile of loot. So he sets out and encounters transformed princes, mad wizards, lost robots, confused dragons and cute warrior women...

Back before the spread of the internet and webcomics we had Dragon and the Dragonmirth section. Now there are print and online comics dedicated to all kinds of gamer genres and sub-groups. But back in the 80s we just had a few fringe magazines...
