New Comics Day, 5/21
May. 21st, 2008 05:19 pmDiamond shorted my LCS this week. Meaning only two of my pull list titles came in. Annoying. So I'll have to wait for the Memorial Day sale to pick up the rest. But I also grabbed the two Marvel Adventures pocket trades they had. vol. 9 of MA: Spider-man and vol. 2 of MA: Hulk. Which is a Defenders themed arc. Team-ups with Dr. Strange vs. Dread Dormammu, Silver Surfer vs. Terrax and Namor vs. well, ok the two just fight for a bit then beat up Gamma Fish. Then its MA: Defenders vs. the vast army of the Nameless Ones. Neat! Also MA: Rick Jones has a pet monkey named Monkey. Who gets possessed by Dormammu to become Fire-Head Monkey! Also the monkey gets infused with the power Cosmic. Silver-coat Cosmic Monkey!
As to the couple titles that did come in, first was the second issue of The Dresden Files. And Harry stops some possessed great cats, gets threatened and then figures out what the Big Bad is. Though I am wondering if Butcher/Syaf are going to go with a secondary villain reveal twist...
And a new Avengers: The Initiative. Though it has Christopher Gage writing instead of Slott. Did they change writers or is Gage just filling in I wonder? I'm guessing its just a filler, since I think Gage is supposed to be taking over some other books. Anyway, this issue show-cases the new rookie class. And also pushes the SHRA as a non-voluntary super-human draft. Taskmaster is pretty awesome as always. Though really, can anyone OTHER than Sally Floyd ask a question at one of these Initiative press conferences?
