Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
Apr. 3rd, 2008 09:15 amJust prior to the start of WW2 Guinevere Pettigrew (Frances McDormand) is an unemployed (and near unemployable) governess; homeless, broke and hungry. While attempting to find new work she manages to find herself hired by would-be actress and club singer Delysia Lafosse (Amy Adams). Helping her juggle the three men in her life and getting to experience Lafosse's high society life...
A short (barely 92 minutes) fairly light romantic comedy. Simple and cute and fairly predictable. But definitely cute. McDormand and Adams do most of the heavy work carrying the movie, but get some stellar help from the male romantic interests Lee Pace (of Pushing Daisies), Tom Payne, Mark Strong and Ciaran Hinds (Julius Caesar in Rome)...
Not a deep movie, but good for what it is...
