lurkerwithout: (Death)
So after the work meeting (and nothing I like more than spending 4 1/2 hours sitting while someone attempts to indoctorinate me into corpthink) went over to my moms to change and rest before tonights shift. And so was able to get MY copy of the latest Pratchett. Making Money which has the triumphant return of Going Postal's Moist Von Lipwig...

And how was the book? Awesome of course. But I'm not exactly an unbiased reviewer. Pratchett's been my favorite writer for years now. I was mildly dissapointed that Death only has a brief appearance. And that the eventual downfall of various villain's was not as harsh and bloody as previous ones. Mostly because I'm a blood thirsty, vengeful type. I will say the main twist reveal was not the one I was expecting...

Sadly I had to put several things back in my box. And again pass up several cool trades. Because of the money and my lack of same. But I still managed to pick a half-dozen cool books. Starting with the latest Astro City: The Dark Age. Where the gang war finally draws to a close as the city goes mad...

Then we've got the Fantastic Four Presents Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius: Monster Mash with several cute adventures of Franklin and H.E.R.B.I.E. dealing with monsters. Also Eliopoulos and Sumerak's Reed and Sue look like Calvin's parents...

After that back to space for Annihilation: Conquest: Starlord. Where the rag-tag band of disposable heroes track down the Phalanx's dire plan to speed up assimilation. And then things start to go bad. Or would it be badder?

We rocket back to Earth for the next chapter in the current arc of Brubaker & Phillips Criminal. Everything begins to move into place for Tracy Lawless' final confrontation with his dead brother's old crew...

Over in the latest Blue Beetle Brenda confronts Jaimie's support staff and learns who her Aunt actually is. Oh and a giant woman smashes stuff.

Peacekeeper: Great. Giganta.
Paco: ...Buh. Buh-buh. They're...
Peacekeeper: Don't stare. Your mind fixates, next thing you're cruising some real weird chat rooms.

John Rogers and Keith Giffen are freaking geniuses!

And we finish with X-Men First Class where Bobby and Hank go on a road trip to discover the heart of America. Ok, mostly they drive down the coast and look at tourist stuff and eat weird regional dishes...
