The Constant Gardner
Aug. 13th, 2007 10:08 amBritish diplomat Justin Quayle (Ralph Fiennes) uncovers a global conspiracy between his government and a multinational pharmaceutical company while investigating the murder of his wife (Rachel Weisz). Fiennes and Weisz are both superb, as usual. But as the movie finished up I realized that there have been a lot of movies on Africa of late. Pretty much all centered on evil shit that happens because of Western disinterest (Hotel Rwanda) or greed (Lord of War, Blood Diamond, The Constant Gardner). And none of these things are exactly new events, so I wonder what is drawing the attention of film makers currently?
