Flash! Aaaaaaaawwwwwaaaaaaaaaw!

Almost forgot, last night before work caught the first 2/3 of the new Flash Gordon pilot on SciFi. Flash and Dale were decent. He's an athlete and auto mechanic. Dale is a tv reporter engaged to a local detective. Or possibly an FBI agent. It wasn't very clear...

Anyway, Mongo is reached by some kind of wormhole technology thing. I'm not sure. THe episode was full of random science terms mashed together into some kind of almost Trekish gobbeldy gook. And Ming is the bad guy from Tank Girl. I'm totally serious. He's an Evvvvvil Water Monopolist. But at least he put Flash in a mindripper/torture chair and planned to force Dale into being one of his mindzombie harem girls. So he's got SOME of the Evil Overlord in him still...

Sadly you got very little alien landscape between Flash/Dale arriving on Mongo, then their getting tossed in a dungeon, followed by the escape back to Earth with one of Ming's slave-girls...

So overall, not a very strong start. Still I'll withhold full judgement untill I get to see how the Hawk and Forest People are handled...
