Ok people. For those out there once again wondering what exactly "Women in Refrigerators" implies? Its not women getting killed. Its women who get killed to add angst and drama to a male character. See Bendis' Mighty Avengers #4. You see Sentry's wife? Yeah? She just got Fridged...
Anyway on to comics I actually buy. First off I decided to cut DC as much slack as I do Marvel and add one of their few titles I enjoy onto my pull list, rather than just wait for trades. So I grabbed all the Blue Beetles back to issue 13 as well as this week's release. 'Cause Jaime is fucking awesome...
Next up is the 2nd issue of 4 for the FEAR Agent prequel from Dark Horse. Some of the human survivors make it to "safety" where one of them is an alien conspiracist who's info seems to be pretty accurate from what I remember of the Image run. Plus Heath decides enough with these Motherfuckin' Killer Aliens. Yay for non alky Heath! You go you suicidal bastard!
Then its the next Annihilation: Conquest mini, Starlord. Quill is sentenced by the surviving Kree government to go on a suicide mission to take out a Phalanx program that would rapidly take out any non-controlled worlds even faster. And since the Phalanx can take over any kind of advanced tech almost damn well instantly his gear is pretty much limited to recreated Earth tech. Nothing like taking on shit like Phalanx controlled Sentry robots using a rag tag squad armed with paired .45s and some .50 cal. And lets hear it for Peter "Starlord" Quill's squad. Captain Universe! Former Micronaut Bug! Shiar killer Deathcry! The Universal Madonna Mantis! Space Tree Royal from Planet X Groot! And tactical genius ROCKET FUCKING RACCOON! I love you Mr. Giffen. I truly do...
After that we go with a bridging issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Its the all too brief life and times of one of Buffy's slayer decoys. Plus some stuff showing how the World Wide Slayer Squad recruits and trains...
Over on Invincible we watch as Mark totally drops the ball with Eve, the big doofus. And then has fun dealing with a female Viltrumite. She's the one covered in blood and gore on the cover. Which despite the fact taht the boobs just look off, is still 1000% better than any Turner, Horn or Land cover...
And we finish up with Elephantmen where Obadiah Horn bonds with some resurrected African Black Rhinos. Honestly this book was right on the bubble with me, but this issue actually tells a complete story, without feeling rushed or fractured like most of the issues featuring the actual "main" characters...
