The Tick Omnibus Volume 1
Written & drawn by Ben Edlund, Inks by Maxfield Banks and Dave Garcia, Letters by Robert Polio
Collecting together the first issues of one of the oldest and best parodies of super-hero comics, THE TICK. His initial debut in the City, his fights against the Ninja hordes of Ninja World, Oedipus, Arthur, Paul the Samurai, Clark, Sagin, the Red Scare, Running Man. Mmmmm. This is some good super-heroes. Though the Tick won't have his trademark battle cry until volume 2...
Though this volume does include one of my favorite scenes from the entire series:
Random Driver: Oh dear! I think I ran over a ninja back there!
Random Passenger: Well, keep driving. We're late as it is. I mean it's not like we hit a Collie or anything.
Random Driver: I guess you're right.
Though this one is good also:
Diner Employee: Everyone's got their own problems, buddy. Hell, I still get visions from my previous life as Theodore Roosevelt's daughter.
There is no version of the Tick; comic, cartoon or live-action that is not made of pure Awesome...
Get Carter

Crime noir with a British sense of class and timing to it all. But they end up trying to get too fancy with camera tricks and miss out on the basic concepts. Criminals doing bad things to other criminals. Pure nihilistic anti-heroism at its finest. Also, while I'm not unappreacitive of Paul Bettany or Daniel Craig, they're no Caine...
