New Comics Day
Feb. 21st, 2007 05:38 pmStill no Beyond! Should get it next though. Plus I made sure to let them know what other Marvel trades I wanted to make sure they don't underorder them. I also added two more titles to my pull list Elephentmen and The Pirates of Coney Island, so I picked up a pile of back issues for both that I still have to read through...
Of my regular pulls we'll start with the new Knights of the Dinner Table. The opening strip where Bob, his girlfriend Shiela and Dave attempt to teach Bob's niece and nephew how to play an rpg is good. But the main strip, mostly dealing with issues of coupons and coupon retaliation in HackMaster is more limited. Game effecting coupons are a pretty uniquely HackMaster thing. So I wonder how well the humor for it works for people who've never played. Amusing rant by
spoonyone on the movie the Dungeonmaster and
sailormur discusses nerd board games. And Mur, the point of Settlers of Cataan is to swear at the dice...
Next we have DMZ where Matty finds somewhere to stash Amina while he tries to break the story on Trustwell. Whose security forces are going kill-crazy in the city...
Over on a new Powers, the mastermind behind the recent deaths is revealed. Apparantly the Devil did it. Really not joking..
Next up is Invincible where a team of heroes is sent into space to deal with the threat of the alien parasite Sequids. And at the same time the Lizard League takes over a nuclear missile silo, with only a few of the Global Guardians on hand to stop them...
Then with more Kirkman, we've got the next issue of Battle Pope. I'm not sure how long the original series was, so I don't know if this issue is still a colorized reprint. Anyway a jealous God yells at da Pope for hittin' it with his ex. God's ex, not da Pope's...
Then we've got a new PS238 detailing Zodon's adventures thru time with his malfunctioning time machine. Though I think Williams should have tossed in a brief foot-note or something explaining the Barry Ween chip and its effect on Zodon's swearing...
And lastly is the finale to the delayed Retro Rocket. The aliens reveal their backstory and offer Rocket a deal for his help...
Oh, and I flipped thru both Civil War #7 and the new Illuminati. Both were pretty freaking stupid. Though CW #7 had at least one really cool looking full-page panel involving Hercules and Clor...
