Walk the Line
Nov. 20th, 2005 12:32 amJust got back from seeing it with my friends Brendan and Kevin. And I must say it was good. Very good. Joaquim Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon turn in superb performances. And if those were their voices singing like I heard, then it goes beyond superb to outstanding...
The actor who played Jerry Lee Lewis was also damn good. Hell, all the guys shown touring with Cash (or in the early days who Cash toured with) were good. Some wonderful scenes of them celebrating, playing and just burning out...
And some of the stuff where Cash is just flaming out on who knows what is painful to watch. It hurts you to see him destruct like that...
Also there's some easily made parallels to the Ray Charles biopic. Especially given that both musicians had beloved brothers die young and drug problems...
So yeah, go see this movie. I paid a ridiculous sum of money for tickets and I've got no regrets. Go see Potter when the crowds die off. See the Man in Black instead...
