lurkerwithout: (Mal's pretty hat Angie creator)
Got started late due to some miscommunication and a forgotten character sheet. But we managed to finish things up pretty well right around 11:30, so not to late, especially for a Saturday...

And this week was my HackMaster game. The group was basically finishing up their recovery after the raid on the lizardman lair. Mile's thief (Blade), Kendall, was getting used to no longer being blind. Brendan's battle mage, Harlan the Pale, was dealing with having lost a foot. The NPC cleric party member was basically just kicking back with the local priestess. And Noah's fighter, Goldy, was learning more about running the ship the group got...

And then on their 3rd night back the retallitory raid hit. I had the various lizardmen and allies hit in waves at various points. This gave the group and their townsfolk allies about even odds. Odds that were improved by Kendall downing a potion of Speed and zooming about backstabing enemy leaders. Surprisingly, even attacking FOUR times a round, he had like one Crit and only 2 fumbles. Odd...

The town still took about 20-25% casulties, mostly 0-level generic NPCs. In fact only one named NPC died, one of the innkeepers. The group also learned that the owner of the town's other inn, in addition to be the head of the local thieves, is a Zealot of Salimissra, Gawdess of Reptiles. She has no connection to the smugglers or lizardmen, but she was able to help the group interogate the two prisoners...

The group learned that all the military build up the lizardmen have been doing (buying arms, recruiting mercenaries) was under the advice of an aged lizardman "minister". And that most of the few lizardmen remaining at the lair were those loyal to the minister over the chieftan. The group is still unsure if they want to return to the lair to get all the potential phat schwag or (and this is Brendan's vote) head for a larger town with higher level NPCs for training purposes. (For those familiar with HackMaster I use a One-on-One training method, instead of the bullshit Training Academy method in the regular rules.) On the one hand, I basically told them that if they waited too long they'd get screwed of the major treasure, but on the other Brandon needs a high level NPC to train under if he wants to learn new spells when he levels...

Oh and Miles managed to sneak into the mayor's house after the fighting and steal the mayor's wife's jewelry box...
