So we decided to try playing at a newish store down in Mesa called Gamer's Inn. About a third of the store is taken up with several rows of computers, most of which were being used to play World of Warcraft. I saw a few other multiplayer games, but mostly WoW. Half the rest of the store is then tables for gaming. Much of which were taken by Mini gamers and CCG types. Though there were several other table-top games going on. Whatever fraction was left went to stock (not a wide variaty, mostly board games, CCGs, plastic minis and d20 games) and the sales counter. An ok store, though very crowded. We almost didn't find a table space. Also loud...

But still I think this second session of my HackMaster game went well. Since they missed him the first time around, I tried to introduce the assassin NPC again. And they didn't buy his act for a minute. Partly 'cause I hosed his disguise roll. But they took him captive and wailed on him 'till he confessed. Ok, part of that was him attempting to kick someone while tied, fumbling and kicking HIS OWN POISONED DAGGER. So the group managed to learn MOST of the smuggler tactics, numbers and plots in regards to the haunted house. Of course, their interogation attracted one of the wandering monsters, a trio of giant fire beetles. The battle was going ok for them, the PCs had a hard time hitting, but the beetles weren't dealing out much damage. Until one critted and nearly took the arm off Noah's fighter. So after driving off the bugs, they took their captive back to town...

After turning the assassin over to the local Tariff officers, they also uncovered the smuggler plant in the town and had him arrested. Then while the group rested up for a bit, the local soldiers went to scout the hidden cove. Which they totally blew. Several of the soldiers came back into town, hurt and so the party rushed back to the house to grab the remaining smugglers before they could escape. And thanks to some borrowed horses they reached the house just as the DS illusionist and his minions were escaping. Brendan softened them up with some low-level fireballs while Noah's fighter and Miles' blind rogue opened up with missile weapons. After a brief skirmish most of the smugglers broke and ran, only to be chased down and captured...

The group took the prisoners back to town, interogated them and finished resting up. Then they went back to the house to finish clearing the basement. A brief fight with some skeletons later, they found the secret alchemy lab. Happily for me, Noah foolish picked up the cursed luckstone...

After that it was just bookkeeping, leveling and what not. So we finished up the night with a couple more games of Betrayal at House on the Hill...
