No guts, no glory
Apr. 23rd, 2005 04:05 pmI'm taking a break from an ongoing HackMaster game to post this. Mostly 'cause I'm dead. But in a good way.
So this week, instead of our normal campaign Dan asked us to bring in a 5th to 7th level character to run thru an adventure he plans to run at a con tourney. So I brought back Hawkwynd Goldenweave, elven fighter/mage and bitch extrodinaire.
Since the purpose of today was to help show the gaping holes in the adventure, I basically blew off the group's tactics and went on my own. The set-up: Funky maze surrounding evil mage guys tower. So I first try to levitate up to the tower roof and get hit by a lightning bolt. So then I used Dimension Door and took on the evil wizard on 1 on 1.
With my first sword swing I figure out he's got a stone skin up. So I switch to spells. The two of us pile on each other, spell after spell. Monsters were conjured, fireballs were flung, webs were spun. And I JUST barely lost out. If I'd 1) gotten healed and swapped to non-damaged armor after the 1st lightning bolt OR 2) if the bad guy had missed a single save I would have soloed the whole adventure. But I didn't and he didn't so I went down in flames in the end. Of course I forced bad guy to use up 70-80% of his spell arsenal. So provided the others can managed to reach the bad guy, he's screwed.
So I feel pretty good actually...
