Mar. 13th, 2005 01:00 amSo I finally got around to seeing this. It was ok. Which given that I was expecting it to be one of the worst movies of the decade, isn't too bad. Sure whatsherface the girl cop was pretty, well dull. At least until she started seeing spooky stuff and got all freaky and intresting. Hammy, but intresting...
And sure they changed Chaz; burly blue collar everyman into Chas; wannabe occultist and punk kid. But Chas grew on me...
And yeah, Papa Midnite; the guy who kept his murdered sister's ghost as his slave spirit guide, got turned into a good guy. But the movie version also grew on me...
And every demon, angel and cgi monster chewed the scenery like Jeromy Irons in "Dungeons & Dragons", but some decent moments came out of it...
But most importantly Keanu did a decent job. Sure he wasn't British. And every time he had a decent Constantine moment the script then ups the cgi and action. And yeah, happy, almost upbeat ending. But still it wasn't bad...
