This is a cool comic that [personal profile] the_outlaw turned me onto a while ago. Just recently went back and read it again. Some good stuff here.

This is mostly inspired by the overly generous rating given to several crap movies by a local fanzine. And of course the media sub-forum on the Kenzer Boards.

One thing I see over and over and OVER again on nerd/geek/gamer/etc discussions is Why can't Hollywood turn out good movies/Why is everything so crappy/etc. And then I see these SAME people recomend crap like The Earth is Freezing Just So That a Scienctist Dude Can Have a Desperate Race Against Time and Nature Gone Wild to Rescue His Son. Or Wolverine vs. All of Universal's Monsters. Or I Know the First Two Sucked Donkey Cock But This One Will Make Up for All of That. Movies with NOTHING original to them, driven solely by CGI and fanwank.

If you PAY 8 bucks for crap movies, then movie producers will KEEP GETTING THEM MADE!

I have nothing against a stupid, but fun movie. But for Tod's sake don't ENCOURAGE people to make them. Rent them, watch them on NetFlix, borrow a friends copy. Hell, buy the thing out of the Wally World discount bin. But for fucks sake STOP BUYING TICKETS TO SEE THEM!

And if you can't do that, if you HAVE to experiance Leather Vampires vs. CGI Werewolves on the big screen, THEN STOP COMPLAINING about the state of movies. This is your bed jack-ass, lie in it.
