*Frustrated Sigh*
Oct. 2nd, 2004 04:47 pmOk and we end our 2nd HackMaster session for this new campaign. And we've been rejoined by Kyle.
1st off, he HAS to play a Grunge Elf so that he can be a ranger/cleric. Because its the only way he can be Neutral in Alignment. One, there's no reason he couldn't be a Half-elf Ranger/Cleric and be Neutral Good. It would still fit for a follower of Aknar (god of Wolves/Stealth). And two, I'm playing a Pixie-Faerie and he KNEW that...
For those unfamiliar with HackMaster Grunge Elves or Grel EAT members of my race and skin them to steal their natural magics...
But Kyle isn't a NORMAL member of Grel society. Not that he's an Outcast since that would have led to some minor honor penalties and would have meant he couldn't be at least minor Nobility or better...
*mutter mutter*
But I could have got beyond all that. In fact since Dan had described Elves and Dwarves as being EXCEEDINGLY rare in this campaign setting, I could even alow that the normal animosity between our races wouldn't really exsist as much...
But 2nd off, he and Kyle decided that this new character had to be introduced in the most round about, sneaky way possible. Instead of say, "A stranger walks up to your camp. Amazingly its another elf! He says he has been watching you for several days and has decided that you could use his skills in wilderness survival if you are to make it back to civilization. What do you all do?"
Bam. Done. New character inserted into the group.
Nope, they have to be uber-mysterious. Have Kyle's Grel stalking the group and occasionally lending a mysterious hand before vanishing into the jungle. Which has just left my and Dave's characters paranoid and thinking he's a threat. Jane and Misty seem willing to accept this and just move on, but then neither really seems to have a grasp on their character's full motivations or personality. And when we broke for the day, Kyle and Dave were almost at blows. Since Kyle, who is the only character who knows about a threat in the neighboring swamps, decided that he'd put out any camp fire we tried to start.
First he says he'll shoot any matches out that he says. Which ignoring the non-exsistance of matches in the group, is still just STUPID. And then he says he'll dowse any fire we try to start. Implying he'd use magic. Which prompted Dave to say if the camp was attacked with magic he'd respond with a fireball.
Engh.
And last week Kyle and Dan almost picked an in-character fight over something minor and iconsequential. I don't know whats up with him, mostly since he stopped talking to me, but I hope he gets his shit together 'cause this is getting old.
