New Comics Day
Aug. 18th, 2004 05:25 pmPretty decent haul for this week...
1st up we got a new K.iLL...And all I'm gonna say about it is I love Knuckle's line..."But even I've got standards"...
New Savage Dragon...Kinda lack-luster...Not bad really, but not one of Eric's best...Plus the Mighty Man back-up is getting old...
New Girl Genius which plays out pretty much how I'd guessed...But at least its got psycho/pirate lady...Plus a flashback to Wulfenbach and Agatha's mom...Very nice...
Astro City Special with one of the heroes who Busiek would always mention but never really show, Supersonic...I like the costume design especially...Kinda like a cooler version of the old Torpedo/Turbo suit...
And then a new Supreme Power...Issue has four concurrent storylines...Done in a split panel thru the whole issue... Kinda neat...Plus they give a nice origin for at least SOME of the varied super-villians they need...
I may go back later and pick up the Doc Spectrum mini, but it didn't really capture my attention yet...
Also grabbed the Losers tpb...And I'm glad I waited for the trade...The story really didn't hook me 'till about the halfway point...If I'd picked up the individual issues I probably would have dropped it after the first or second issue...One surprising thing about the trade though was the lack of a whaddya call it, testimonial...I can't remember the last Vertigo trade I got that didn't have one...
