Rubel the Thief has returned from a lengthy sea journey to find nearly all his family and friends dead or gone and the Princess he has sworn his loyalty to is being slandered in the street. But luckily he manages to find his old friend Varkias the Imp. Which is good because the guard are after him for quitting his unfair contract with his old captain and attempting to collect his owed pay. Which makes getting to see His Princess somewhat difficult...

Oakley has a simple and energetic style which contrasts with his text heavy writing. A strong start to what looks to be an enjoyable fantasy series...
