Ethics

Quick question. Amazon sends me two of my last order. Checking their shipping notification and the order info on their site it shows I only bought 1 of the item. Only the one item has been charged. Do I contact them and ship it back? Or just go "Yay free book!" and one of my friends gets a gift?

Contact them. Odds are they'll say it's all good, go ahead and keep it (this has happened to me a few times). If not, they'll send you a shipping label.

This happened to a friend of mine, except with a Rock Band guitar instead of a book.

Depends. Do you want to act ethically? If so, you'll notify them of the duplicate shipment. If not, keep it.

I had something similar happen when someone sent us a baby shower gift. I got a double shipment of changing table. I made sure they had only charged my aunt for one first. Then I just returned the extra for credit and got a stroller instead. Probably not the most ethical thing to do, but I needed a stroller. I figure that it isn't like you took anything, they sent it to your house.
