Robert Mitchum is the craggliest dude ever. He should just wander around in a movie staring at other dudes until their lack of equal manliness causes them to explode. Also there is like a fuck-ton of smoking going on here. Every scene someone is lighting up. I'm glad I wasn't into classic noir when I was quitting...

I saw Mitchum in the romantic comedy "Holiday Affair" with Janet Leigh a few weeks ago... he's such a weird choice for a romantic lead. Maybe it's the eyes. Kind of creepy, and worse when he smiles. I couldn't shake the feeling that any minute he was going to bludgeon Leigh to death with a meat tenderizer...
