The first part of Hiroshi Ingaki's Samurai Trilogy starring Toshiro Mifune as Mushashi Miyamoto. This beginning third covers Mushashi's wild days, from his first battle to his imprisonment. A solid movie, though incomplete. I'll have to wait to judge its strengths after seeing the full trilogy...

Never saw more than the first third, myself. Don't think I ever got through more of the book that that, either.
