Um... I beg to differ...

Having seen a couple of manatees in close quarters in the wild, I've got to tell you: they really are rather intimidating.

Maybe it's their sheer size (their average weight is half a ton).

Possibly it's the knowledge that they have more guts than you ever will (their large intestine is 70 feet long).

But the thing I found most disturbing about manatees is how they all constantly hum the opening bars of "When You're A Jet" from WEST SIDE STORY. Talk about intimidation!

Really. They are *CONSTANTLY* humming it. I swear, they can hum it in their *SLEEP*. And Ghod help you if a group of them start *HARMONIZING*...
