Charley Varrick
Charley (Walter Matthieu) leads a bank robbery of a small town bank in New Mexico. But when the surviving robbers count the money they find over 3/4 of a million dollars, with the bank claiming they only made off with less than 2 grand. Charley soon realizes that they lucked into hitting the back when it was serving as a drop for a Mob money laundering. And so he has to figure out a way to be safe from both the police and the Mafia...
Matthieu is great in this as the crop duster turned thief. Watching as he sets everything up for his disappearing act is a treat. As is Joe Don Baker as Molly, the specialist the Mob brings in to track down the thieves. I do wonder about how easily some of the women jump into bed with people in this...
